Molly Shannon Supports Daughter Stella Shannon Chesnut’s Acting Career

Molly Shannon is raising a superstar.

The 61-year-old gave an update on how her daughter Stella Shannon Chesnut is following in her acting footsteps after Molly’s many memorable roles on screen, including starring in Netflix’s The Hawk with Will Ferrell, which premieres July 16.

“My daughter Stella just graduated from NYU drama school,” Molly exclusively told E! News’ Will Marfuggi at The Hawk premiere July 9. “She got her BFA in acting, so she’s already working.” 

The 22-year-old—who recently appeared in a season two episode of Goosebumps: The Vanishing as a friend to Jayden Bartels‘ character Cece Brewer—scored some priceless advice from her mom to help with her journey in Hollywood, Molly shared. 

“I go, ‘This whole press thing is nerve-wracking. It can make you nervous,'” Molly told E!, reenacting her pep talk with Stella before the red carpet. “I go, ‘It’s totally separate from acting.’ But I said, ‘You have to look at it as fun.’ It’s like prom, and it is fun, but it’s also nerve-wracking because you’re yourself. I’m not a character, I’m me.”
