Tarik Skubal is due back from the Injured List this weekend, and unfortunately for the Detroit Tigers, that has us thinking not about the playoffs but about the trade deadline.
So that’ll be the theme of next week’s baseball mailbag. Let’s talk trades.

It feels early — the trade deadline is more than a month away — but it was this time last year that the Milwaukee Brewers traded for Andrew Vaughn, a buy-low deal that wound up being one of the best trades of the year (and one that’s still paying dividends for the Brew Crew). You know what else happened almost exactly a year ago? The Rafael Devers blockbuster. Another deal that, oddly enough, is really paying off for the Brewers.

So, let’s hear your thoughts. Early trade chips. Out of the box ideas. Teams that should make a move now, and teams that have reason to wait. These don’t have to be fully formed trade proposals, just thoughts and observations and questions.
