Roma make €46m bid for West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville

Roma have submitted an offer for West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville.

Sources with knowledge of the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, said a bid worth €46million (£39.12m; $56.21m) was made on Saturday. The Athletic reported earlier this summer it is expected to cost approximately £50m for West Ham to sanction Summerville’s departure.

The 24-year-old is under contract at West Ham until June 2029 but is expected to leave during the window after the club’s relegation to the Championship, following in the footsteps of Mateus Fernandes who joined Tottenham Hotspur in an £85m deal.

The Athletic reported on June 16 that Manchester United had been paying serious attention to Summerville, and enquired about his situation. The Netherlands international has also attracted interest from Europa League winners Aston Villa.

Summerville was part of the Netherlands’ 2026 World Cup squad, scoring in their opening two group-stage games before missing a penalty as they exited in the last 32 to Morocco.

Summerville made 31 Premier League appearances last season, registering five goals and four assists as West Ham were eventually relegated. He made Ronald Koeman’s World Cup squad despite having only made his international debut in a June friendly, and featured in every game.

Summerville joined West Ham from Leeds United in the summer of 2024 and has made 56 appearances over his two years in east London, scoring eight times and providing four assists.

West Ham received a boost this week as The Athletic exclusively revealed captain Jarrod Bowen had signed a revised contract to commit his future to the club for the 2026-27 season.
