CINCINNATI — Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz left Sunday’s game in the fifth inning with right hamstring tightness.
De La Cruz led off the fifth inning with a line drive between Atlanta Braves center fielder Michael Harris II and right fielder Ronald Acuña Jr., but pulled up at first and was immediately attended to by athletic trainers and taken out of the game.

The two-time All-Star started every game this season and started 161 of 162 games last season. De La Cruz has appeared in 276 consecutive games, the sixth-longest streak by a Reds player in the expansion era (since 1961).
De La Cruz singled and scored from first on JJ Bleday’s double in the first inning, then walked, stole second and went to third on a throwing error before scoring on another Bleday double in the third.
Leading off the fifth against Spencer Strider, De La Cruz slowed up before he got to first and didn’t attempt to turn the hit into a double. The Reds replaced him with slumping second baseman Matt McLain.
Shortstop Edwin Arroyo, No. 23 on the most recent top-50 prospects list from The Athletic’s Keith Law, is hitting .323/.383/.562 for Triple-A Louisville, but was not in the lineup for the Bats’ game Sunday against St. Paul.
