Ranking the 10 best premium players in World Cup fantasy: From Cristiano Ronaldo to a Spanish differential
Premium players are often the difference-makers in international fantasy tournaments.
With fewer matches, shorter timelines and captaincy playing a huge role, identifying the right elite assets can make or break your World Cup Fantasy campaign.
The 2026 World Cup is packed with attacking talent but these are the 10 players that stand out as the best premium options to pick during the group stages.
10. Cristiano Ronaldo ($10.0m) — Portugal
Despite being 41, Cristiano Ronaldo is still an elite goalscorer.
He is nailed on to start and is the focal point of Portugal’s attack.
From a fantasy perspective, Ronaldo’s appeal is straightforward. He is likely to play as the central striker, is first choice for penalties, and should get plenty of chances in the first two fixtures.
Portugal have one of the more favourable groups in the competition and although Ronaldo might not play 90 minutes every game anymore, he will get more than enough minutes to merit his inclusion and the fixtures are just too good.
Ronaldo’s combination of goalscoring pedigree, penalty duties and tournament experience means he should still very much be in our thoughts.

9. Kylian Mbappe ($10.5m) — France
It is difficult to look beyond Kylian Mbappe as one of the standout premium assets in the game.
The France captain has already established himself as one of the greatest World Cup performers of all time. He has scored 12 goals across the last two World Cups, including a hat-trick in the 2022 final, and is the focal point of one of the strongest attacking teams in the tournament.
France’s first two games against Senegal and Iraq are worth targeting.
They should score a few against Iraq and Mbappe is their talisman and penalty taker.
If managers are selecting only one premium forward, Mbappe should be at the top of the list.

8. Vinicius Junior ($10.0m) — Brazil
The Real Madrid superstar has developed into a complete attacking player, combining goals and assists.
Vinicius Junior is classified as a midfielder in this game, which works to his benefit as he gets an extra point over forwards for scoring and also qualifies for the tackle and chance-creation bonuses too.
He managed an impressive 22 goals and 14 assists for his club last season.
Brazil are expected to dominate Group C as they face Morocco, Haiti and Scotland, and the five-time World Cup winners will be favourites to win all three.
Haiti are one of the lowest-ranked teams in the World Cup and this will be the most one-sided game in Matchday 2, so having at least one Brazil attacker for this fixture looks essential.
Vinicius Jr is nailed to start and will be the one of the best captaincy options in Matchday 2.

7. Luis Diaz ($8.1m) — Colombia
Luis Diaz is the player capable of carrying Colombia deep into the knockout stages.
Only Lionel Messi scored more (eight) than the Bayern Munich winger (seven) during South American qualification and Diaz is the talisman for his country, who has goal and assist-threat in abundance.

For Bayern last season, he netted 25 goals and assisted 23 times across all competitions
Colombia’s first two games don’t get much better as they take on Uzbekistan and DR Congo — the same fixtures as Portugal but in reverse order.
They are also likely to score a fair few. It’s very likely Diaz will be in the thick of it, one way or another.

6. Jamal Musiala ($8.0m) — Germany
The Bayern Munich playmaker is one the first names of Julian Nagelsmann’s team sheet and has both goals and assists in his locker.
Musiala often operates in advanced central positions, giving him multiple routes to fantasy returns. Goals, assists and midfielder bonus points all appear likely.
The start of his last season with Bayern was marred with injuries but he looks to be fully fit now. In his previous three seasons, he has 38 goals and 22 assists for his club.
Germany are strong favourites to win their group and their first fixture against Curacao is the best game in Matchday 1.
According to market odds, they are predicted to score over four goals. This game could see a huge scoreline in Germany’s favour.

5. Raphinha ($8.2m) — Brazil
Raphinha looks excellent value, especially given his team-mate Vinicius Jr costs almost $2.0m more.
He enjoyed an outstanding club campaign and enters the World Cup in excellent form.
The 29-year-old scored 21 goals and assisted eight as he helped Barcelona win La Liga. Crucially, Raphinha takes the majority of set pieces for his nation and is likely first-choice penalty taker too.
For managers unable to afford Vinicius Jr, Raphinha offers a slightly cheaper route into one of the tournament’s most dangerous attacks.

4. Michael Olise ($9.5m) — France
Michael Olise may not carry the same reputation as Mbappe but he could prove equally important from a fantasy perspective.
The winger made a phenomenal start to life in Germany with 42 goals and 54 assists in his first two seasons with Bayern Munich. His creativity and set-piece involvement make him a standout midfield option.
He will no doubt be a first-team regular and play plenty of minutes. His hat-trick in France’s friendly against Northern Ireland on June 8 is a reminder of how explosive he can be.
Managers looking for a way into the France attack beyond Mbappe should look no further. With Olise classed as a midfielder, he is eligible for tackle and chance-creation bonus also.
Midfielders gain an extra point for every three tackles and every two chances created.
3. Erling Haaland ($10.5m) — Norway
The Manchester City striker continues to post remarkable goalscoring numbers at club and international level, and enters the tournament as Norway’s talisman.
Everything in their attack is built around creating chances for him. He has netted a remarkable 55 goals in 50 games for his country.
Haaland offers a near-guaranteed 90-minute role whenever fit and is also his team’s first-choice penalty taker.
Norway’s opener against Iraq is one of the most favourable fixtures in the first round and it’s no surprise that he is the favourite to score at anytime (65 per cent) according to market odds.
They will also be favourites for the second game against Senegal, so he’s a fine pick for the first two games. You might want to look to sell him for the third group game against France.
Remember, we get two transfers before the start of each matchday in the group stages and then unlimited transfers before the round of 32, so we can afford to be more aggressive in this format.

2. Bruno Fernandes ($8.5m) — Portugal
Bruno Fernandes remains one of the most reliable fantasy assets around, for club and country.
Portugal’s main playmaker is involved in almost everything going forward. He creates chances, scores goals, and is on corners and free kicks.
The extra points for midfielders in this format will work heavily in his favour, as Fantasy Premier League managers will be aware, he not only creates chances but gets involved in defensive duties too.

Portugal probably have the best two opening fixtures from any team in the tournament.
They play DR Congo and Uzbekistan, so it is likely that Portugal will rack up a lot goals.
1. Mikel Oyarzabal ($8.1m) — Spain
Mikel Oyarzabal may be one of the most underrated premium assets in the game.
The Spain forward has quietly become one of the most consistent performers for his national side. He scored 18 goals and recorded four assists for Real Sociedad last season, and has netted 25 goals in 53 games for Spain.
Oyarzabal also has potential penalty responsibilities, which immediately boosts his appeal.
The first two fixtures against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia should see Spain score plenty and their No 9 will no doubt get plenty of chances.
