Portugal vs Croatia live updates: Ronaldo set to start today’s 2026 World Cup knockout clash
Cristiano Ronaldo was the first player to appear on the practice field at Centennial Park in Etobicoke, a suburb of Toronto.
Media were only allowed to watch the first 15 minutes of Portugal’s MD-1 training session, but Ronaldo was visibly in good spirits. He led the warm-up jog around the pitch before drills began, smiling and waving to the cameras.
He then participated in passing drills with his team-mates. In the distance, fans could be heard yelling “Ronaldo” as they tried to catch a glimpse of the Portugal legend.
Ronaldo’s last appearance in Toronto came in a friendly against Toronto FC in August 2009, when he was a Real Madrid player. Now the 41-year-old is preparing for another huge World Cup knockout match, with a place in the round of 16 on the line.
