Paris Saint-Germain are finalising a move for Aston Villa and France left-back Lucas Digne, who has a release clause in his contract with the Premier League club.
Sources close to the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, said Digne’s release clause is worth less than £10million.
The 32-year-old full-back – who changed representatives last year – has two seasons to run on his contract at Villa, which expires in June 2028.
Digne was more often than not Unai Emery’s first choice at Villa last season, starting 11 matches in their victorious Europa League campaign, including the final, and featuring in 32 Premier League matches.
Despite Digne being a first-choice starter towards the end of the season, his deputy Ian Maatsen, 24, is viewed as a long-term solution at left-back.

The Athletic reported in June that there was an increasing sense that Villa were not planning to keep both left-backs this summer. Digne signed a new contract on reduced terms last year, with Maatsen also attracting possible admirers. Yet with PSG poised to meet the former’s release clause, he is set to be the left-back who departs.
Villa are also facing losing Youri Tielemans this summer, with The Athletic revealing on Monday that the midfielder is in advanced talks with Manchester United.
Tielemans also has a release clause in his contract of £35m, which leaves Villa powerless to keep hold of the Belgium international if the mechanism is triggered.
Digne joined Villa from Everton in January 2022, and has made 182 appearances for the Midlands club.
