Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year contract with Turkish club Trabzonspor following his exit from Liverpool.

Salah arrived in the Turkish city of Trabzon on Wednesday after the club said they were in talks over his signing the previous day, and on Thursday Trabzonspor confirmed a two-year contract.

The 34-year-old Egypt captain left Liverpool this summer, bringing an end to his nine-year spell at the Merseyside club, where he won two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

The club have said they will present Salah officially at their 41,000-capacity Papara Park stadium at 7.30pm local time (5:30pm BST).

Prior to officially joining, Salah was pictured arriving at Istanbul airport, wearing the club’s shirt and greeting fans.

Salah departed Liverpool as a free agent at the end of the 2025-26 season despite having a year remaining on his contract at Anfield. His exit came just a year after helping Liverpool win the Premier League title under Arne Slot, recording 29 goals and 18 assists in arguably the most impressive of his nine campaigns at the club.

However, Liverpool’s drop in league position last season coincided with a drop in Salah’s form, scoring seven league goals in 27 appearances, the first time he had failed to reach double-digits in his Liverpool career.

He had moved to Merseyside from Serie A club Roma in 2017 and went on to feature 442 times for Liverpool, scoring 257 goals and providing 123 assists in all competitions. He won the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup.

Salah started all five Egypt’s World Cup games this summer as the side reached the round-of-16. The nation came close to advancing to the quarter-final stage, taking a 2-0 lead against 2022 champions Argentina before conceding three late goals to fall to a 3-2 defeat.

Trabzonspor finished third in the Super Lig last season, seven points behind champions Galatasaray, qualifying for the Europa League and also winning the Turkish Cup. The team have won the league title on seven occasions, most recently in 2021-22.
