Manchester City midfielder Sverre Nypan has completed a move to Belgian side Lommel SK on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old joined City from Rosenborg in the summer of 2025 in a £12.5million ($16.9m) deal and spent the first half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Middlesbrough.

Lommel are part of the City Football Group (CFG), the ownership group who are majority-owned by Abu Dhabi, with City being the flagship club.

Before moving to City, Nypan had been targeted by Arsenal in January 2025, as well as by Aston Villa and Girona, another CFG club.

It has now been announced that the one-time Norway international will spend the upcoming season in the Belgian top flight.

Out of his 22 appearances for Championship side Middlesbrough, just three of them were starts.

After being recalled by City in February, Nypan was named in the first team on one occasion – he was an unused substitute in a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the League Cup on February 2.

He scored five goals in ten appearances for City’s under-21 side, including a goal against Arsenal in the Premier League 2 playoffs on April 25.

Lommel were promoted to the Belgian Pro League (the country’s top flight) last season after defeating Dender 3-2 on aggregate in the promotion play-off final in May.
