Devonte Wyatt, Packers agree to 3-year contract extension: Source

The Green Bay Packers and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt agreed on a three-year, $57 million contract extension Monday, a league confirmed to The Athletic.

Wyatt, a 2022 first-round pick who was set to play on his fifth-year option in 2026, has 16 sacks and 21 tackles for loss with one forced fumble in four seasons. Over the past two seasons, Wyatt’s 12.1 pressure percentage ranks 32nd among all defensive linemen, according to TruMedia.

Wyatt suffered a broken fibula and torn ankle ligaments last Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions and didn’t play for the remainder of the season. He didn’t practice during the Packers’ offseason program and said in January that he faced a recovery of three to five months, which would allow him to start training camp on the field.

Wyatt may not have eye-popping production, but he’s the team’s best interior defensive lineman when healthy. While playing the Dallas Cowboys last season, Wyatt was forced to leave in the second quarter, allowing Dallas to find success on the ground in an eventual 40-40 tie. When asked after the game what happened to the run defence, edge rusher Micah Parsons cited Wyatt’s absence.

Wyatt’s new $19 million average annual salary places him 18th among interior defensive linemen, according to Over The Cap. The Packers have tackled extensions for Wyatt, linebacker Isaiah McDuffie, wide receiver Jayden Reed and wide receiver Christian Watson this offseason, with standout tight end Tucker Kraft up next for a deal that could reset the market.
