Chris Sale delivers a complete-game shutout as the Braves sweep the Dodgers

ATLANTA — Facing a Los Angeles Dodgers lineup filled with superstars, Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale brought his best, delivering a complete-game shutout in a 1-0 Braves win Thursday night at Truist Park.

It was Sale’s first complete game since 2019. The 37-year-old’s nine scoreless innings included 109 pitches, five hits and 11 strikeouts. His performance featured a 100.1 mph fastball — thrown to Shohei Ohtani in the third inning — and ended with a 98.6 mph fastball to Alex Call.

With the victory, the Braves secured a sweep over the Dodgers, improving to 79-55 as one of the toughest stretches of the year looms in early September.
