Who will play Harry, Hermione and Ron in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ remake?
The trio were discovered after the network launched an open casting call that received thousands of submissions.
WASHINGTON — HBO has finally revealed who will portray Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley in the upcoming remake series of “Harry Potter.”
Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will take on the roles of Potter, Granger and Weasley, respectively. The newcomers were cast as part of an open call led by HBO last year.
The trio join John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost and Paapa Essiedu who are set to play Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid and Severus Snape. Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse also round out the cast in recurring roles as Quirinus Quirrell and Argus Filch.
“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,” showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod said in a statement.
Back in December, Gardiner and Mylod revealed they were going through over 32,000 audition tapes received in response to the original casting call.
“The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there,” the showrunners added.
The studio also released a cast photo of the three actors together.
When is the new ‘Harry Potter’ series coming out?
The series, based on J.K. Rowling’s iconic novels, is expected to premiere in 2026 or 2027. It will be a new adaptation of the original novels and Rowling will be an executive producer on the show.
