Sydney Sweeney is ‘loving’ single life following split from Jonathan Davino
The 27-year-old actress revealed in a new interview that she has split from her longtime partner Jonathan Davino.
WASHINGTON — Sydney Sweeney is opening up about her split from fiancé Jonathan Davino in a new interview.
In an interview with UK newspaper The Times, the 27-year-old actress confirmed that she and Davino had split. The couple, who co-founded the production company Fifty-Fifty Films together, had been engaged for three years and had been linked for nearly seven years.
Sweeney told the outlet that she is no longer planning a wedding with Davino, adding that she is officially single.
“I’m learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I’m loving it,” she told the outlet.
Rumors had swirled about the pair’s breakup after Sweeney was spotted without her engagement ring in February. People reported earlier this year that Sweeney and Davino’s relationship had been “rocky for a long time.”
Speculation about their breakup only skyrocketed after Sweeney attended the wedding of Glen Powell’s sister. Powell and Sweeney starred in the 2023 romantic comedy “Anyone But You,” which Davino and the 27-year-old actress co-produced.
Sweeney and Powell leaned into their on-screen chemistry during the film’s marketing, sparking dating rumors. Both stars have consistently shut down speculation, including during Sweeney’s monologue on Saturday Night Live in 2024.
“It’s always beautiful to see people fall in love with characters and be really supportive of stuff that they see on screen,” Sweeney told The Times. “Glen and I adore each other, so I think we were so happy for the reception of the film.”
“When you spend so much time with someone, you become close, and you talk to each other about anything,” Sweeney added. “So work, life, family, friends, he’s just there for me. I’m there for him.”
Powell previously confessed to the New York Times in 2024 that their chemistry was all for show.
“The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry,” Powell told the New York Times at the time. “That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.”
Sweeney also discussed returning to the set of “Euphoria” after a two-year hiatus.
“Being back is crazy, I love Cassie so much,” she told the outlet. “She’s insane.”
