Popular Charlotte bakery closes after break-in

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A NoDa bakery had to close until further notice after a brazen break-in late Monday night..

The crime at Burney’s Sweets & More on East 15th and North Davidson streets was caught on surveillance video.

The thief can be seen throwing a large piece of concrete through the business’ front door and ransacked the place, causing $10,000 in damages. Burney’s said it is a cashless business, so there wasn’t even cash to take.

“As people, we are heartbroken and tired of being vandalized,” the bakery wrote on Instagram. “Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.”

The bakery said it still plans to honor all upcoming orders despite this inconvenience.

Burney’s Sweets & More began in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, back in 2011. A second location was opened in 2013.
