French President Emmanuel Macron called on countries negotiating a UN treaty against plastic pollution in Geneva on Thursday to redouble their efforts, saying it was “our chance to turn the tide” against a “public health emergency”. Tensions have arisen over three years of talks between nations pushing for bold action and oil-producing states favouring waste management.
