Karlie Redd addresses fans after arrest on burglary charge involving her estranged husband.
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Reality TV personality Karlie Redd is speaking out for the first time since her arrest earlier this week on a felony burglary charge in DeKalb County.
The 52-year-old Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star, whose legal name is Karlie Lewis, posted a message to her Instagram thanking fans for their support and sharing a statement from her attorney.
“Thank you for all your prayers, support and concerns in my DM’s and text messages! Love y’all,” she wrote.
The post also included a comment from her attorney, Steve Sadow, who said, “As everyone knows, Karlie and her husband are in the midst of a divorce proceeding, and her husband has previously been charged in Fulton County with family violence battery against her. I am very confident Karlie’s case will be resolved favorably.”
Sadow is a high-profile defense attorney, currently representing President Donald Trump in the Georgia election interference case.
According to a DeKalb County police report obtained by 11Alive, officers responded to a burglary call on Jan. 12 at a home on Lively Ridge Road. The alleged victim, identified as Lewis’s estranged husband Demetrius “Teleau” Belton, told officers he returned home on Jan. 15 and discovered the rear bedroom door glass had been shattered.
Belton initially reported that nothing appeared to be missing but later shared home security footage with police after retrieving it from his landlord. In the video, a woman believed to be Lewis was seen walking alongside the home, appearing to look through windows before entering the master bedroom through the broken door.
The footage also showed the woman in the garage area placing what appeared to be a white object under her hoodie and a black object in her pant pocket. She appeared to be on the phone throughout the incident.
Belton later informed police that several personal items were missing, including a $16,000 Rolex watch, his birth certificate, and a debit card. He also confirmed to investigators that Lewis had never lived at the residence and was not invited to be there.
Lewis turned herself in on April 23 and was released on a $15,000 consent bond. As part of her bond agreement, she was ordered to have no contact with Belton.
The burglary case remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Police Department. As of Friday, no court date has been listed on the public docket.
