WASHINGTON — Harry Potter fans are getting a clearer picture of who will star in the upcoming HBO remake series.
HBO announced the casting for several key roles on Monday, including who will play Draco Malfoy. The announcement comes days after HBO revealed who will portray the series’ protagonists, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
The cast includes Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Early as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Pel Powel as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.
The nine cast members join John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost, and Paapa Essiedu, who are set to play Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid and Severus Snape. Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse also round out the cast in recurring roles as Quirinus Quirrell and Argus Filch.
Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will take on the roles of Potter, Granger and Weasley, respectively. The newcomers were cast as part of an open call led by HBO last year.
Back in December, Gardiner and Mylod revealed that they were reviewing over 32,000 audition tapes received in response to the original casting call.
When is the new ‘Harry Potter’ series coming out?
The series, based on J.K. Rowling’s iconic novels, is expected to premiere in 2026 or 2027. It will be a new adaptation of the original novels, and J.K. Rowling will serve as an executive producer on the show.
HBO describes the series as a “faithful” adaptation of the books, with each season bringing Harry Potter to new and existing audiences.
