The new positions will offer an average annual salary of $76,037.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — groninger USA, LLC announced a $15.1 million expansion of its Charlotte manufacturing facility Wednesday, creating 60 new jobs over the next five years.

The filling and closing machine manufacturer said it will expand its existing 27,500-square-foot facility near Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The company also plans to grow its workforce from 112 to 172 employees. The new positions will offer an average annual salary of $76,037.

“groninger’s expansion is an opportunity to create jobs in a variety of fields in our community,” Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell said. “We are proud to foster an environment where local companies like groninger can be competitive.”

The expansion builds on groninger’s existing partnerships with UNC Charlotte and Central Piedmont Community College, where the company operates an engineering apprenticeship program.

“groninger USA’s decision to expand their manufacturing operations in our city is a powerful testament to Charlotte’s dynamic business environment and our skilled workforce,”  Mayor Vi Lyles said. “This investment represents more than just new jobs – it’s a vote of confidence in our community’s potential, our commitment to advanced manufacturing, and our ability to attract world-class international companies.”

CEO Philipp Hauser cited Charlotte’s strategic location, international airport access, and established German business community as key factors in the decision. The company, which relocated from New Jersey to Charlotte in 2007, handles sales, service, and parts manufacturing for customers across North America.

The project resulted from collaboration between the city of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, Economic Department Partnership of North Carolina, NC Community Colleges, and the North Carolina Department of Commerce. It joins recent economic development projects from companies including RXO, Siemens Energy, and Albemarle Corporation, which collectively represent over $455 million in investment and 1,351 new jobs in the region.
