Eddie Murphy confirms son Eric’s marriage to Martin Lawrence’s daughter, Jasmin
During an appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Murphy confirmed his son recently tied the knot with Lawrence’s daughter.
WASHINGTON — Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are officially in-laws.
Murphy confirmed in a recent appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” that his son, Eric Murphy, quietly married Jasmin Lawrence, the daughter of fellow comedian and actor Martin Lawrence.
“They got married like two weeks ago,” Murphy said in a clip from the show. “Everybody was making the big wedding plans, and then they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them.”
He added that the couple’s wedding took place at a church with only a preacher present.
Although the wedding was small, Murphy said there will likely still be a big party and joked about how Lawrence doesn’t have “to pay for the big wedding now.”
Eric and Jasmin first confirmed their relationship in 2021 and announced their engagement in November 2024 with a video on Instagram.
Despite their fathers co-starring in films like “Life” and “Boomerang,” the couple didn’t meet through their parents. “It wasn’t even our dads,” Jasmin said in an interview with InTouch in 2022. “We met through my uncle, and we became really good friends. We bonded on a lot of things. Obviously, we have similar backgrounds, so we understood each other on a certain level,” she explained.
Both Murphy and Lawrence have publicly praised the relationship in past interviews. Murphy joked in an interview with “CBS Mornings” that if the couple had children, he’d expect them to be funny. Lawrence called Eric a “great young man” in a separate appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”
