Shuler King is a funeral director by day, touring comedian by night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Local comedian Shuler King appeared on America’s Got Talent at 8:00 p.m. on season 20 episode 5, Tuesday, June 24. King got laughs from judges, and continues to the next stage.

King went viral on TikTok for his standup in 2024, garnering over 7 million views. His comedy account has earned nearly 12 million likes.

While the internet fame may be recent, King has been performing for over twenty years. His first set was at Shaw Air Force Base in his hometown Sumter, S.C. in 2004.

Between his tour, internet virality and long career, King said he was ready to show off his skills in front of millions of viewers.

“I’ve been making people laugh for years, but AGT gave me a stage to show the world what I do,” King said. “Two minutes changed everything.”

In between sets, King is a funeral director and licensed embalmer. He says his day job offers a perspective in comedy that his audience appreciates. Plus, comedy gives him a chance to tell his family’s story.

“I’ve been touring, building my audience and honoring my family’s legacy in funeral service,” King said.

King is currently touring the country on Your Favorite Undertaker Tour. He’ll appear at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte in Aug. 28-31.
