An introduction to Fuel Flo as it expands to Charlotte | Local business news

South Carolina entrepreneur Amber Murray brings this “DoorDash for gas” concept to Queen City, targeting busy families and professionals.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A new mobile fuel delivery service is promising to change how Charlotte residents think about filling up their gas tanks by bringing the gas station directly to customers’ driveways.

Fuel Flo, a subscription-based service that delivers gasoline to homes and offices, has expanded to the Charlotte market after operating successfully in South Carolina communities, including Charleston, Orangebur,g and St. George.

“I like to tell people, it’s DoorDash, but for gas,” said Amber Murray, the owner and founder of Fuel Flo.

Murray, who grew up in St. George, South Carolina, said the business concept was born from personal frustration after her car ran out of gas on a busy interstate in Atlanta. She admits she hates the process of going to gas stations, which led her to create what she calls a convenient alternative for fueling vehicles.

“Fuel Flo is a mobile fuel delivery service, so we come out to you while you’re at home or work, and we fill up your gas tanks,” Murray explained.

The concept operates on a simple premise: instead of driving to a gas station, the gas station comes to you. The company uses a subscription model with both weekly and monthly options designed to eliminate the need to detour to gas stations, particularly targeting busy working families.

“Convenience is a thing nowadays, right? Trying to accommodate work around nap time can sometimes be difficult, so just having the flexibility of her being able to pull up on you wherever you’re at and fill you up, it’s really been a blessing,” said Tyler Luchey, a Fuel Flo customer.

The service costs $60 per month or $17 per week, with each plan covering up to three vehicles at the same address. The subscription fees do not include the cost of fuel itself. Murray’s truck delivers two grades of gasoline: regular and premium.

Murray said the mobile fuel delivery company is now offering service in Charlotte, aimed at preventing emergency fuel situations by focusing on regular, scheduled deliveries rather than providing roadside assistance. Before each scheduled delivery, Fuel Flo sends customers a text message to confirm the service, which can be skipped if not needed.

“We want to just take care of people and give them that opportunity to feel safe when they need something done, and keep their time and save time while doing so,” Murray said.
