Actor Michael Madsen found dead at 67 in Malibu home


The actor appeared in many popular Quentin Tarantino films including: “Reservoir Dogs,” “Kill Bill: Vol. 2,” “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”

MALIBU, Calif. — Actor Michael Madsen, known best for frequently collaborating with director Quentin Tarantino, was found dead in his Malibu home on Thursday, according to multiple media reports. He was 67. 

The actor played in many popular Tarantino films including: “Reservoir Dogs,” “Kill Bill: Vol. 2,” “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and other movies like “Thelma & Louise” in 1991, “Free Willy” 1993, and “Scary Movie 4” in 2006.

Law enforcement were called to the home early Thursday and found him “unresponsive,” according to NBC Los Angeles. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 8:25 a.m., according to the Hollywood Reporter. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office believes foul play is not suspected. His manager Ron Smith says he was declared dead from what appeared to be cardiac arrest.

Madsen has been working on independent feature films “Resurrection Road, “Concessions” and “Cookbook for Southern Housewives,” according to his manager. 

“(He) was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life,” Smith, manager Susan Ferris and publicist Liz Rodriguez told NBC Los Angeles. 

They said he was also planning on releasing a book called “Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems,” which is being edited now. It’s unclear when, or if, the book will release.

He has nearly 328 acting credits on IMDb, with the first being in 1982. IMDb also says he is in 18 upcoming projects. 

Madsen has 26 wins and seven nominations in multiple awards, including the Los Angeles Film Awards, Cannes Arts Film Fest, Boston Film Festival and many more across his decadeslong career.
