80-year-old entrepreneur opens eighth business, nail salon
Beatrice Wilson opened Bee Nails on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive earlier this week.
ATLANTA — A metro Atlanta woman is proving that age really is just a number as she opens her eighth business at 80 years old.
Beatrice Wilson opened her new nail salon, Bee Nails, on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Wednesday.
“I feel you’re never too old, it’s never too late to follow what you love doing,” she said.
After years at local car dealerships, Wilson decided to start something of her own and open her own business.
She attended nail school but found no one willing to hire her. Instead of giving up on her path, Wilson decided to open her first salon. Before Bee Nails, she owned seven other salons throughout metro Atlanta, all of which she sold before retiring in 2021.
Wilson said she loves doing nails and owning a business because she gets to meet new people.
“Personally, I love being away from home and talking and interacting with people,” Wilson said.
A ribbon cutting was held on Wednesday for the grand opening of Been Nails, where Wilson met Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and City Councilmember Andrea Boone.
Wilson added that she was appreciative to see the support for her new business.
“It’s very heartwarming for me, and I’m getting a little bit teary. I’m getting so much support from my new customers coming in here. I’m just excited,” the 80-year-old added.
She said her eighth business is larger than her other seven businesses. She added that she wanted Bee Nails to be inviting to the Adamsville neighborhood, so she added warm colors to make customers feel relaxed.
