F1 British GP live updates: Follow latest from today’s Sprint race and qualifying at Silverstone

It’s nearly time for the Sprint race! Here’s a quick reminder of the format.

Sprint races are held at some stops on the Formula 1 calendar, taking place the day before a grand prix.

The races cover 100km, a third of the length of a GP, and have no mandatory pit stops, with the focus on flat-out racing. At Silverstone, the race is 17 laps long.

There are championship points handed out to the top eight finishers in the sprint races, with eight for the winner down to one for eighth place.

This will be the first Sprint at Silverstone since 2021, which hosted the first ever F1 Sprint weekend
