Bengals avoid disaster after Ja’Marr Chase injury scare
CINCINNATI — Crisis averted, it appears.
Ja’Marr Chase went down awkwardly going up for a deep ball from Joe Burrow and appeared to injure his left knee during Tuesday’s practice.
After gingerly walking it off with trainers, Chase stayed out at practice, walked around, joked with teammates and still conducted a planned interview with ESPN1530 on site.
“If I had a game tomorrow, I’d play,” Chase said.

On the radio hit, Chase called it “a little hyperextension,” which initially put him on all fours after trying to get up and walk it off.
The moment put a scare into his teammates and Chase said he tried to keep practicing, but “they pulled me.” Clearly, an abundance of caution would be taken in any scenario involving their No. 1 receiver at an Aug. 25 practice.
“Just a little tweak,” he said. “I’m good.”
Chase compiled 6,857 yards and 54 touchdowns in his first five seasons, adding five Pro Bowls, two All-Pros, Offensive Rookie of the Year and the 2024 receiving triple crown.
Cincinnati’s offense runs through the connection between Chase and Burrow. He missed four games in 2022, but outside of that, he hasn’t missed a game because of injury in his career.
Outside of an afternoon of collective heart palpitations for Bengals fans refreshing social media for updates, all is well.
“I’m feeling good,” Chase said. “I’m fine.
“It’s just a freak accident. Stuff like this happens all the time. It’s football. Some things are out of my control, and that was one situation that I couldn’t control, but I can control now.”
