Domino’s debuts solar-powered pizza shop in York County, South Carolina

CLOVER, S.C. — A solar-powered Domino’s is now open in Clover, South Carolina. It’s the first Domino’s location in the world to operate on solar power to this degree, according to the store.
The franchise location has solar panels on the roof, and the business said all of its wood grain panels with the Domino’s logo on it are also solar panels.
The parking lot lights are also solar powered, and the parking lot itself features two electric vehicle charging stations that customers can use when a delivery car isn’t parked there.
There are Domino’s locations in Australia that have been reducing their energy through the use of solar power systems but Ryan Swanson, the vice president of marketing and restaurant development with the York County Domino’s, said this is the first Domino’s location in the world to also use the solar parking lights, solar on the building’s side, and a roof that is entirely full of solar panels as well.
“We are a family-owned franchise of Domino’s and wanted to lead by example for the brand with our investment in this technology that supports the brand’s global long term 25 year plan,” Swanson said.
The location kicked off business with limited hours on Thursday and starts regular hours Friday. It’s located at 119 Alden Oaks Street in Clover.
