Amal Clooney on How George Clooney Marriage Changed Her Life

Amal Clooney is doing things her own way.

The human rights lawyer recently reflected on how some of the worries she had about living a life in the public eye upon marrying husband George Clooney—with whom she shares 9-year-old twins Alexander and Ella—in 2017 have changed throughout their almost 10-year union.

“I used to have my work life and my personal life, and they could look quite different, and I was able to not have them mix,” Amal said at a Cartier Speaks event in Bangkok, per People, “and then I got married and that changed quite a lot.”

After all, her high-profile marriage meant she had many more eyes on her. 

“At first I was kind of conscious of that one-dimensional view,” she explained, “where I felt like, well, I can’t be seen wearing this dress or doing this because I’m in front of a judge on Monday.”

The 48-year-old ultimately realized that some of those initial worries weren’t worth the stress.
