Tay Keith Found Dead in Apartment: Music Producer Was 29

The music industry is in mourning.

Tay Keith—the renowned hip-hop producer behind certified diamond hit songs like Travis Scott‘s “Sicko Mode”—was found dead in his apartment on June 18, per Tennessee law enforcement. He was 29.

“No foul play is suspected,” Metro Nashville PD indicated in a statement released on Twitter. “He was found dead in his Martin St apt this afternoon by officers performing a welfare check. His death is unclassified pending autopsy results.”

His official cause of death has not been shared.

The Memphis native (birth name Brytavious Lakeith Chambers) frequently collaborated with Drake, helping orchestrate countless beloved tracks in the Canadian’s music catalogue, including “Nonstop,” “Look Alive” and “Rich Flex” featuring 21 Savage, which earned Keith his second Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song in 2024 following a nod for “Sicko Mode” in 2019.

Along with many of Keith’s successes that helped shape hip-hop culture, the artist recently licensed his song “Get It Sexxy” by Sexxy Red for episode two of Euphoria’s final season, which was one of several songs he made with Red, notably including their joint single “Pound Town.”
