New York Jets, offensive lineman Joe Tippmann agree to contract extension: Source

The New York Jets and offensive lineman Joe Tippmann agreed to a four-year, $62 million deal with $31 million in new-money guarantees, according to a league source Monday.

A second-round pick (43rd overall) in the 2023 NFL Draft, Tippmann has shown position flexibility throughout his career. He started 10 games at center and four at guard as a rookie, before starting at center full-time during his second season. Last summer, a preseason injury to Alijah Vera-Tucker necessitated a move to right guard, where Tippmann played well over 17 starts. He is penciled in as the Jets’ starting right guard for this season and beyond.

With the exception of quarterback Geno Smith, who is playing on a one-year deal, all of the Jets’ projected starters on offense are now signed through at least 2027. Tippmann, 25, was set to play on the final year of his rookie contract in 2026. The new deal makes him the 15th-highest-paid guard in the NFL in terms of average annual value. There is no guaranteed money in the last two years of the contract, according to a league source who was not authorized to share details of the agreement publicly.
