As per our very own Jacob Whitehead, Haiti have been ordered by FIFA to change both their home and away kits, with their shirts deemed too “political.”

The design contained an image of several freedom fighters raising the country’s flag, based on the final battle of the Haitian Revolution, which freed the island’s inhabitants from slavery under French rule.

A spokesperson for the Haitian team told The Athletic that FIFA deeming the shirt as political was a “misinterpretation.”

Recent political controversy and social unrest mean that the Caribbean nation haven’t played a match in their homeland since 2021. Moreover, manager Sebastien Migne, who comes from France, has never been to the country.

Haiti are making their first World Cup appearance since 1974 and are in a tough group with the likes of Brazil, Morocco and Scotland.
