French Open 2026 live updates: Women’s final latest as Andreeva takes on Chwalinska today

It’s been many years since we’ve had a women’s singles French Open final featuring two first-time finalists searching for their maiden Grand Slam.

That’s because women’s tennis has been blessed with four fantastic players in the top four, featuring Aryna Sabalenka (1), Elena Rybakina (2), Iga Świątek and Coco Gauff (4). Their prowess in the big tournaments has made them a staple toward the business end of Slams.

Not this French Open, however. This women’s singles final of Mirra Andreeva (8) and Maja Chwalińska is the first at Roland Garros between two players searching for their first Slam since 2021.

That 2021 final was Barbora Krejčíková against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who had reached the quarterfinals of all four Slams in her career. Krejčíková prevailed in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. She went on to win Wimbledon three years later.

A big moment awaits Andreeva and Chwalińska.
