Jay’s Seafood reopens in Stanly County one year after devastating fire
The restaurant has been a community staple since the 1960s, with many online celebrating the reopening of the establishment.
STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A beloved seafood restaurant that’s been a staple in Stanly County for decades has reopened after it was damaged by a multi-alarm fire last year.
Crews from three counties responded to Jay’s Seafood on Stony Gap Road in Albemarle on Jan. 3, 2024. David Bradshaw, a spokesperson for the Midland Fire Department, said in 2024 that it took three hours to fight the fire.
Jay’s Seafood has been the Stallings family’s livelihood for four generations.
“We’ll come to terms with it, we’re going to fix everything and we’re going to open back up as soon as possible,” owner John Stallings told WCNC Charlotte on the day of the fire.
Nearly 13 months later, Jay’s Seafood reopened on Thursday, Jan. 30.
The restaurant has been a community staple since the 1960s, with many online celebrating the reopening of the establishment.
