Transfer news live updates: Barcelona reach Rodri agreement, Martinez’s Juventus move is off, and more

While Barcelona were making progress over Rodri last night, it was a busy evening at Aston Villa where there was news on an incoming goalkeeper, and potentially an outgoing one.

As Emiliano Martinez’s potential move to Juventus gathered pace, our very own David Ornstein and Jacob Tanswell reported that Villa had reached an agreement to sign Japan’s No. 1 goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma.

Shortly after bringing that exciting news to the club’s fan, those same two reporters provided an update on Martinez whose move to Juventus was off following talks between the two clubs.

That does not, however, derail Villa’s move for Suzuki who is expected to be viewed as their first-choice goalkeeper this season, which begins for them on Sunday.

The next step for Martinez is unclear but I would imagine he won’t be too keen on the idea of being back-up to another goalkeeper.
