SouthPark After 5 returning with free live music in Charlotte

SouthPark After 5 returns to Charlotte in fall with free live music from Sept. 4 to Oct. 9.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The popular SouthPark After 5 entertainment series will return to Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood this fall, bringing six evenings of free live music and family-friendly activities to Symphony Park.

The weekly Thursday events will run from Sept. 4 through Oct. 9, taking place from 5-9 p.m. at Symphony Park, which is at the corner of Barclay Downs Drive and Carnegie Boulevard near SouthPark Mall.

Since launching in 2023, SouthPark After 5 has drawn nearly 65,000 attendees to its free concerts and community activities. The series is presented by SouthPark Community Partners and produced by Southern Entertainment.

“SouthPark After 5 is one of Charlotte’s signature events—delivering on our vision for a vibrant and connected neighborhood,” Adam Rhew, president and CEO of SouthPark Community Partners, said. “As we transform Symphony Park into a premier public green space, events like this illustrate the fun, safe, and community-driven experiences that are core to SouthPark’s identity.”

Each event features live music ranging from rock and country to soul and tribute bands, along with food trucks and mobile bars. Special activities vary by week, including face painting, a mobile library, free sunflowers, and a pumpkin patch.

The six-week lineup includes:

  • Sept. 4 – Java Band with free face painting
  • Sept. 11 – Landslide Tribute to Fleetwood Mac with mobile library featuring Books on the House
  • Sept. 18 – Coconut Groove Band with mobile library, plus a special performance by North Carolina Brazilian Arts Project as part of the Charlotte International Arts Festival
  • Sept. 25 – Bourbon Sons with free sunflowers for the first 500 attendees
  • Oct. 2 – Y2K Kids with mobile library
  • Oct. 9 – Petty Rewind with free pumpkin patch

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for picnicking on the lawn. All concerts are free to attend.
