‘The Voice’ Season 29 brings back champion coaches
The upcoming spring season will also see a major format revamp.
LOS ANGELES — The red chairs are about to get a whole lot more competitive.
NBC’s “The Voice” is bringing back a dream team of former coaches for season 29, with fan-favorites Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine returning to their iconic spinning chairs.
“The Voice: Battle of Champions” coming in spring 2026 marks a first in the show’s history — a coaching panel comprised entirely of former “Voice” winners.
The season gets a major format revamp, coinciding with NBC Sports’ “Legendary February” 2026, when the network will showcase Super Bowl LX, Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games and the NBA All-Star Game all in one month. The competition elements are getting ramped up to match that sporting energy.
Here’s what’s new: The blind auditions introduce a “Triple Turn Competition” where coaches battle for the most three-chair turns, with the winner earning a game-changing “Super Steal” for the battle rounds. This coveted power move can trump any other coach’s steal attempt, guaranteeing victory.
Longtime fans will see old favorites return in the “In-Season All-Star Competition” during knockouts, where each coach brings back two fan-favorite artists from previous seasons. Original coach CeeLo Green will return as a special guest to determine winners of the All-Star Showdowns, with the winning coach earning a guaranteed second finalist spot.
The stakes are higher from the start, with coaches building 10-person teams instead of the usual smaller rosters during blind auditions.
A new voting block of superfans and past “Voice” artists will join the live studio audience for semifinals and finale, adding another layer of excitement to the competition’s final weeks.
Before the champions return, viewers can catch season 28 this fall with coaches Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire.
“The Voice: Battle of Champions” premieres spring 2026 on NBC and streams next day on Peacock.
