Nearly 600 laid off from truck manufacturer in Mount Holly, Gastonia
GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) is laying off 573 employees from its Mount Holly manufacturing plant that produces Freightliner trucks, a Workforce WARN report said.
The temporary layoff is effective later this fall on Sept. 9, 2025.
DTNA announced this layoff was a part of a mass layoff, which nearly 2,000 people were laid off across 5 locations, including Mount Holly, Gastonia, Detroit, Portland and Saltillo, Mexico.
A WARN report was not issued for Gastonia because fewer people were laid off. The number of employees laid off from the Gastonia components and logistics location was not listed.
DTNA cites a “notable slowdown in new truck orders” as the reason for layoffs.
